• Vilnius – Home to Europe’s largest baroque old town, Lithuania’s tiny capital is truly enchanting. Stroll through the winding streets of the World Heritage–listed historic centre to discover elegant churches, an ancient university and a famous sacred image of the Madonna. Outside of the old town, Vilnius buzzes with an artistic bohemian vibe and has some of the best hotels in Lithuania.
• Trakai – An easy day-trip from Vilnius, Lithuania’s ancient capital is famous for its charming wooden houses and 15th-century red-brick castle. The castle enjoys a superb location on an island in Lake Galve, and houses a fascinating museum showcasing the history of this proud nation. A must-do when sightseeing in Lithuania.
• Kaunas – Lithuania’s second-largest city is a dynamic mix of ancient architecture and modern urban culture. The old town boasts an interesting castle, gracious town hall and majestic cathedral. Kaunas’s Devil Museum – possibly the only museum in the world dedicated to the Prince of Darkness – is a quirky highlight.

• Curonian Spit – This World Heritage–listed spit features stunning sand dunes and a diverse range of birds and other wildlife. Cycling along the spit is an excellent way to experience this remarkable (and endangered) ecosystem.
• Hill of Crosses – For over 600 years, people have been planting devotional crosses on the slopes of this hill in Central Lithuania. The thousands of crosses range from tiny to enormous and from simple to ornate, making this one of Eastern Europe’s most unusual and awe-inspiring attractions.
• Palanga – The premier Lithuanian resort, Palanga boasts a gorgeous 10 km stretch of sand overlooked by splendid dunes. The town can get fairly packed with tourists during the summer months, but is charming nonetheless.
